June 2022 Conference

This year on Saturday, June 11th we organized the annual conference of our church plant. The topic for this year was ”Christian Ethics in a post-Christian World”.

Christian believers (of any kind) are a tiny minority in Europe. In Bucharest, only 3.5% of people attend church of Sunday, an extremely low number considering this statistic generously includes all Christian churches (even the EO). Because we are such a tiny minority, our situation is very similar to that of the Christians in the first centuries and unlike that of the Middle Ages or the Reformation.

We sought to use this conference as a means of cultivating a Biblical and Reformed mindset that would help us be faithful to God yet loving to the vast majority of unbelieving neighbors around us.

Our special guests for this event were Dr. David VanDrunen of Westminster Seminary California and Dr. Harrison Perkins pastor of London City Presbyterian Church.

Dr. VanDrunen lectured on the Biblical and theological foundations for our life in a post-Christian world. Dr. Perkins lectured on church history with a focus on Puritan relations between church and state.

Several new visitors from Bucharest as well as other cities from Romania have attended this event. It was a good opportunity for us to learn Biblical and Reformed theology but also to get in touch, face to face, with many people.

Many of the visitors stayed also for our Sunday service and sat under the preaching of Dr. VanDrunen who delivered a sermon on Mark 10.

We hope to continue organising this kind of conferences every year since they are a good opportunity not only to learn but also to reach out new people.

We are thankful to God for such opportunities and we ask for your continued prayers that the Lord might use his word to bring people to faith.

Warmly in Christ,

Rev. Mihai Corcea
